Chetham’s School of Music is the UK’s largest specialist music school, with 300 students aged 8-18, and the only one in the north of England. It is co-educational and over the last 50 years, has established itself as a central part of music education in the country with 90% of Chetham’s students receiving UK Government funding towards school fees through the Music and Dance scheme. The Stoller Hall opens at Chetham’s on 21 April 2017 as Manchester’s newest performance space with the inaugural concert and a special gala on Sunday 23 April 2017, as part of a celebratory opening weekend. The £8.7m concert hall boasts a 482-seat acoustically immaculate auditorium perfect for a variety of ensembles and genres. The Stoller Hall has been designed by Stephenson Studio architects with Arup Acoustics, and built by Sir Robert McAlpine. £7.5m of its overall cost has been generously donated by Sir Norman Stoller through the Stoller Charitable Trust, with additional support from the Garfield Weston Foundation.
