Brindley SherrattBass Brindley Sherratt studied trumpet and singing at the Royal Academy of Music, beginning his career with the BBC Singers and later moving into Opera. His career highlights include Sarastro Die Zauberflöte at the Vienna State Opera, the Netherlands Opera and Covent Garden; Claggart at the Glyndebourne Festival, BBC Proms and Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Other notable roles include Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande for the Opernhaus Zurich; Sparafucile from Rigoletto at Covent Garden; Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence; the Doctor in Wozzeck at the Lyrica Opera of Chicago; Benvenuto Cellini’s Balducci at the Salzburg Festival; Pogner in Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg for Welsh National Opera and at the BBC Proms; Don Carlo’s Filippo for Opera North; and Pimen in Boris Godunov and the role of Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra at the English National Opera. Sherratt is also a keen concert performer, and appears widely with leading orchestras and period instrument ensembles, under such conductors as Mark Elder, John Eliot Gardiner, Daniel Harding, Andris Nelsons, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Antonio Pappano.
